The Odyssey Group
Odyssey was born out of the conviction that one of the major challenges of the 21st century will be that of education. In a time marked by profound social, ecological and geopolitical transformations, education is not only an essential personal asset, but above all “the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” (Nelson Mandela).
As its name suggests, Odyssey is first and foremost an adventure that a small group of founders embarked on following their passion:
- Passion for education, this profoundly altruistic activity which combines the transfer of knowledge, compassion, high standards and innovation. Teaching requires real expertise, but it is above all a vocation that requires a soulfulness and a high awareness that the education received by our students contributes to shaping their future and therefore the world of tomorrow.
- Passion for France and the French language, which embodies the spirit of the Enlightenment and values throughout the world. In a globalised world where English has become the main means of communication, French culture and the French language are opportunities for our students to excel in the international educational landscape.
Within the framework of the French national education curriculum, Odyssey schools offer an academic education in French, English and the national language of the host country, starting in kindergarten. They are taught by French and international teachers using an active and individualised teaching method. Students are empowered to learn and become informed citizens through a French-style education based on the spirit of the Enlightenment and humanist values. In Odyssey schools, students are given a global community where they can grow and develop the key skills to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
In each of the Odyssey schools, highly qualified educational teams are committed to leading each student along the path to success and supporting their future in higher education. The diplomas obtained by our students, primarily the French baccalauréat, are true passports to the world, enabling them to enter the best universities.
At the beginning of 2023, Odyssey comprises of 12 schools in Europe, Africa and Asia (all approved by the French Ministry of Education) and one British school. Recognised by the French authorities for the quality of its educational proposal, the Odyssey group has signed a framework agreement with the Agence pour l’Enseignement Français à l’Etranger (AEFE), thus confirming its role as an educational provider and privileged partner within the overseas French education network.
