Discovering the traditions of Trung Thu

At La Petite Ecole Hanoi, the Mid-Autumn Festival, known as Trung Thu in Vietnam, gave our children a chance to discover local traditions through age-appropriate activities. Throughout the week, they made colourful lanterns, decorated cute animal masks and had their first go at painting inspired by traditional Đông Hồ folk art. These activities brought together colours, shapes and Vietnamese culture while giving children plenty of space to create, explore and play.

To celebrate Trung Thu, our children came to school in their colourful áo dài and gathered around some of the festival’s familiar traditions, with lanterns and moon cakes. From little discoveries to shared play, the day was filled with moments of curiosity and connection. At La Petite Ecole Hanoi, Vietnamese traditions are part of everyday school life, giving children the opportunity to discover the culture around them while growing up in an international learning environment.
